You will either love it or hate it. Personally, I love it! This photo shoot for Vogue Italia by Steven Klein is simply amazing! Stunning and makes you take notice. There is something extreme, dark , sexy, and edgy about it that draws you in. I don’t think too many people could have pulled off this fashion shoot successful, but she totally rocked it. There are very few models who can morph into different characters and make it look believable. It’s obvious to me that when the concept was presented to her she completely committed to it. She committed to the vision Steven Klein had and produced a buzz worthy fashion shoot.

How many models can go from Cover Girl Model to Edgy Vogue fashion shoot and not miss a beat?

Not many and that’s where her talent lies. She takes the risks, but looks good doing it. She doesn’t look like she’s trying too hard, but rather becomes the character she is playing at that time. While some may not love this photo spread, I think that she was making a statement in displaying herself as a strong, confident woman who is comfortable in her skin and despite her recent setbacks, she’s still a strong woman.

There are a lot of comparisons to Grace Jones being made. I can’t say if this was the inspiration, but I think that every generation has their variation of an entertainer in the past whether it be Grace Jones or anyone else. Art always reinvents itself at some point. I don’t think that Rihanna is trying to be Grace Jones because there is only one Grace Jones, but if the inspiration was Grace Jones I would see it as a huge compliment to know that your work is still inspirational and in some way you served as a muse which helped to create something both edgy and modern.
